Redmi is famous in India for it’s budget smartphones that provide value for the price. Redmi Note series one of the most famous of this series and this year too redmi has launched new phones.

I have used Redmi Note 9 Pro Max as my daily driver from the past month. Here is what I think about this device after using it for about a month.

Redmi Note 9 Pro or Pro Max?

Let me make it clear at starting without wasting your time, that buying redmi note 9 pro max over redmi note 9 pro is clearly a better deal. For a small increase in price you get Faster Charging, Better Camera Setup and a better UI Experience. This Experience is better as in my experience I saw less adds on Max variant as compared to Pro variant.

Look and Feel

If you have look at this phone, at that first sight you can tell that this phone is built well. The metallic body gives it a premium look and feel. The back panel has a glossy finish, it looks pretty good but it’s a finger print magnet. Also, the camerae setup also has a big bump, so it would be better if you use a back cover for this phone.

The front panel of this device is 6.7 Inch IPS panel with a refresh rate of 60Hz. Yes, It’s not a AMOLED panel and no faster refresh rate but still the screen looks for this price range. Also, the screen has a punch hole display, the hole is something you’ll get adpated to really quickly.

Performance

This phone comes with Android 10 and MI UI 11 out of the box. Also this phone is runing SnapDragon 720G chipset so that will provide great performance to this device. The RAM on this device depends upon the variant 6/8 GB. Overall this setup makes this device really great for gaming.
I play PUBG on this device for more than an hour and had no issues like thermal throttling or lag on this device. The phone was a bit warm to touch after gaming but that thing is pretty common in this price segment.

Camera Quality

This phone has a Quad rear camera setup, The main camera on this device is a 64MP camera with a samsung sensor. The other 3 cameras are a Wide angle, Macro and a depth sensing camera.
Below you can see various images clicked from this device:

Ports and Speakers

This phone has a side mounted finerprint sensor, the sensor is fast and responsive. If I talk about the ports on this phone then on the upper side you get a IR blaster, a common feature among redmi devices.

On the bottom side of this device you get a Type C charging point, a HeadPhone Jack and speaker. The speakers sound average, not that bad or good, again typical for this price point

Battery

What’s not typical for this price point in this device is the battery life and performance. This device has a 5000Mah battery and supports fast charging. Acc to MI’s claims this device can fully charge within 1.5 hours and can charge upto 50% in just 30 mins. These claims hold true. The charging on this device is really fast for a budget phone.
On a single charge you can easily get over a day battery life. In my usage at the end of the day phone still had around 20% of battery left.
